Atiaf has extensively worked and lived in the Middle East and North Africa focusing on gender, peace and security issues. Her area of work includes human rights, gender equality, communications and the intersection of art and politics with non-governmental organizations and research institutions in Egypt, Lebanon, Tunisia and Yemen. She engages in academic writing and lecturing, as well as social media advocacy. Specific expertise includes research, writing, policy analysis and project management. Some of Atiaf’s academic work has looked into gender issues and detention.
