Gender-sensitive Conflict Analysis, Mediation and Early Warning // L’analyse de conflit, la médiation et l’alerte rapide sensible au genre

Expand your network and join our specific roster of experts on gender-sensitive conflict analysis, mediation and early warning for potential projects with the European Union and other international organizations.

Since 2019, Gender Associations has been working on projects related to gender, peace and security around the world with various governments, regional and international organizations, as well as civil society organizations.

Due to increasing commitments by these actors to implement the gender, peace and security agenda, Gender Associations is looking to expand its professional network of consultants through an additional pool of experts in order to meet the growing demand for our services.

Gender Associations consultants may be contracted to conduct conflict prevention and mediation activities or perform analytical, scoping or training missions. These assignments can involve long-term missions (e.g. more than 4 weeks) and ongoing conflict prevention, mediation or dialogue initiatives at short notice. If interested, please highlight within your application where and how your experience could be relevant.

Desired Profile of Experts

A university degree (equivalent to master’s or higher) in social sciences, law, conflict studies, development, economics or any other relevant fields.

Excellent knowledge of international and regional organizations, such as the European Union and the institutional structures and instruments, policies and roles of other international organizations.

Strong communication and drafting skills and proven human relations skills in conflict mediation situations.

The ability to interact with high-level government officials and the diplomatic community; as well as the capacity to travel frequently, at short notice, and for long-term missions.

Excellent command of the English and French language (C2 level). Additional languages are an asset.

A minimum of 3 years professional experience in the relevant area. Experience in fragile, or conflict-affected, countries is an advantage.

Les consultant.e.s de Gender Associations peuvent être engagé.e.s pour mener des activités de prévention des conflits et de médiation ou effectuer des missions d’analyse, de diagnostic ou de formation. Ces missions peuvent comprendre des missions de longue durée (par exemple, plus de 4 semaines) et des initiatives ponctuelles de prévention des conflits, de médiation ou de dialogue. Profil souhaité des experts

Un diplôme universitaire (équivalent à un Master ou plus) en sciences sociales, droit, études de conflits, développement, économie ou autres domaines pertinents;

Une excellente connaissance des organisations internationales et régionales, telles que l’Union européenne et les structures et instruments institutionnels, les politiques et les rôles d’autres organisations internationales.

Des solides aptitudes en matière de communication et de rédaction, et compétences avérées en matière de relations humaines dans des situations de médiation de conflits.

La capacité d’interagir avec des responsables gouvernementaux et le corps diplomatique; et disposé.e à voyager fréquemment, dans des délais parfois court, pour des missions de court ou long séjour;

Excellente maîtrise de l’anglais et du français (niveau C2). Les langues supplémentaires constituent un atout.

Un minimum de 3 ans d’expérience professionnelle dans le domaine concerné. Une expérience dans des pays fragiles ou affectés par des conflits est un avantage.

Nicola has mainly focused on issues such as the implementation of UNSCR 1325, international law at the domestic and regional level, on gender-sensitive security sector reform and on the prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence in peacekeeping missions. She holds a Masters (LLM) in International Peace Support Operations, as well as a degree in Political, Social and Communication Science. Nicola has lived and worked in Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe and South and West Africa. She has developed, implemented and evaluated training programmes, action-oriented research, projects, as well as policy development processes for the United Nations, different governments and NGOs.
