Gender Associations works to improve capacities, policy development and action oriented research on gender, diversity, peace and security.
We believe that a crosscutting and complex area of work, such as gender, peace and security, requires high level technical expertise, diverse perspectives and critical self-reflection. Therefore, we work with a variety of national and international specialists from different cultural, academic and professional backgrounds.
Together with our colleagues on the ground, we work to advance the implementation of the WPS agenda and to ensure that efforts to realize gender equality, human rights, peace and human security lead to sustainable peace. So far our > WORK has covered 22 countries from different geographic regions.

We support institutions and individuals who have committed to advance gender, peace and security, human development, human rights, the rule of law and violence prevention and response, particularly in fragile, crisis, conflict and post-conflict situations.
We work with governments, international organizations and non-governmental organizations, as well as private sector companies.

A new EIGE report supported by Gender Associations highlights the heightened risks of gender-based violence for migrant women in the EU and the gaps in national protection measures. The study calls for stronger gender-responsive and survivor-centred policies.

Nicola has mainly focused on issues such as the implementation of UNSCR 1325, international law at the domestic and regional level, on gender-sensitive security sector reform and on the prevention and response to sexual and gender-based violence in peacekeeping missions. She holds a Masters (LLM) in International Peace Support Operations, as well as a degree in Political, Social and Communication Science. Nicola has lived and worked in Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe and South and West Africa. She has developed, implemented and evaluated training programmes, action-oriented research, projects, as well as policy development processes for the United Nations, different governments and NGOs.
